Compulsive Hoarding |
Our guest in an encore show is clinical psychologist Dr. Fugen Neziroglu, author of the book Overcoming Compulsive Hoarding...Why You Save & How You Can Stop. This is a very serious problem. People who engage in compulsive hoarding behaviors begin with an ordinary number of possessions, but as time goes on, the hoarder continues to purchase or collect more items and the items begin to multiply and multiply. This continues until the person is living in chaos, often with their possessions in piles or stacks spread throughout their home and in extreme disarray. Dr. Neziroglu will define the problem in detail and provide some potential solutions. |

Than We Think. His studies were recently featured on ABC’s

but because of family and friends, packages and plates, names and numbers,
shapes and smells, distractions and distances. Dr. Wansink says that
the average person makes around 250 decisions about food every day.

Friends
at Work
|
Our guest will be #1 New York Times best-selling author Tom Rath, whose latest book is entitled Vital Friends. The book answers questions such as what is the quickest way to ruin a friendship? Do great friendships have anything in common? Are close friendships in the workplace such a bad thing? These are just a few of the questions that Tom Rath of the Gallup Organization asked when he embarked on a massive study about the impact of friendships. His team's discoveries produced Vital Friends, a book that challenges long-held assumptions people have about their relationships. And the team's landmark discovery was that people who have a "best friend at work" are seven times as likely to be engaged in their job. (www.vitalfriends.com) |

Children With Scary News Reports
|
From the Best of Problems & Solutions - Our guest will be Lorna Knox, child therapist and author of the book Scary News – 12 ways to raise joyful children when the headlines are full of fear. Lorna wanted to write this book because our children are bombarded with information from so many sources, much of it horrifying and unnecessary, and they don't have the ability to process it like we do. The suggestions she offers show how to avoid the unnecessary information, deal with the necessary information, and add joy and goodness to children's lives in a way that makes those qualities the real focus of their lives.
