Bob White

As a very special Thanksgiving show, we will re-air an earlier show with Lincoln High coach Bob White. Bob and his brother Richard were critically injured on Interstate 80 east of York, Nebraska back in December 2007 when a drunk driver veered off the road and pinned them between their SUV and trailer. Bob spent 46 days in the hospital, underwent 18 surgeries, had his left leg amputated and went through a year of rehabilitation to become functional with his prosthesis. He is now back to coaching. This is a show not to be missed!

Overcoming Adversity

As Cathy continues her series about people who have overcome tremendous adversity, she welcomes Lincoln High track coach Bob White. Bob and his brother Richard were critically injured on Interstate 80 east of York back in December 2007 when a drunk driver veered off the road and pinned them between their SUV and trailer. Bob spent 46 days in the hospital, underwent 18 surgeries, had his left leg amputated and went through a year of rehabilitation to become functional with his prosthesis. He is now back to coaching.

Surviving Cancer
Former KFOR News Reporter Jim Fagin, who now works in the Omaha office of Sen. Ben Nelson, will be in to share his personal story of his journey with pancreatic cancer. The cancer had not spread beyond the pancreas when he was diagnosed last fall - and after extensive chemotherapy and very complicated surgery known as a Whipple procedure, Jim is getting stronger by the day and is back to work. They ended up moving to eight different states as they got older, yet they managed to maintain an enduring friendship that carried them through college and careers, marriage and motherhood, dating and divorce, a child's serious illness, and the death of one member of their group.
